Cranbrook Swim Squads

Our Squad coaches focus on assisting swimmers to take their skills and technically proficiency to the next level, and preparing swimmers to compete at school carnivals and competitions. 

The Squad programme at Cranbrook’s Murray Rose Aquatic & Fitness Centre caters for all swimmers from Introduction to Nationals and Masters swimming.

How To Join

3 simple steps

1. Determine swimming ability and be sure the swimmer can meet the requirements of the relevant Squad level

  • Use the tables below to determine swimming ability according to our framework.
  • If you have been assessed from Cranbrook Learn to Swim – click straight into the recommended squad.

2. Use the registration links below to create a home portal account. This account will allow you to register multiple students.

3. Once registered, our Squad team will need to verify your registration and swimming ability. Arrive on time for your first training session and the swimmer will be assessed in the first 5 minutes to ensure the correct level has been chosen. 

*Please note – Refunds will not be provided for incorrect assessments. If the swimmer is incorrectly classified by you when registering, we will amend your squad membership to the correct levels.

Our Squads

Mini Squad 

13 years and under

This level is intended as a transition from learn to swim lessons to a team environment. It provides the fundamentals of understanding squad based sessions while still focusing on learning the technical proficiency of all four competitive strokes.

Development Squad

13 Years and Under

The Development Squad is the first level in our competitive swimming programme and introduces participants to racing. These swimmers will learn the technical requirements and etiquette of training and racing and refine their competitive swimming techniques.

Target Squad

Swimmers at this level focus on refining their skills into race efficiencies and striving towards racing state qualifying times. The increased training regime allows swimmers to refine speed, technique, and stroke. This Squad focuses on learning how to train for State competitions.

State Junior

This Squad is for participants with qualifying times to compete at the NSW State Junior Championships. The sessions across the week focus on stroke efficiencies and constant improvement whilst still focusing on the fundamental skills and technically proficiencies of all four strokes.

State Senior 

This Squad is for participants with qualifying times to compete at the NSW State Senior Championships. Swimmers will learn race strategies and build upon practice habits and skill development with a focus towards qualifying for Nationals.

Gold

Gold Squad is a fitness squad for Cranbrook Students and the wider community. It is suitable for swimmers who can competently swim 200m without stopping and swimmers will swim 1.5km – 2km per session. (Free for Cranbrook Senior School students)

Masters

Masters is a fitness programme designed for swimmers over the age over 18 who want to develop their fitness level and improve their technical proficiency. Swimmers will generally swim between 1,500m and 3,000m per session.
