Armidale Rugby Tour 2019 - Cranbrook School

Armidale Rugby Tour 2019

During the first weekend of the holidays 19 boys and 3 staff flew to Armidale for the annual U12 Rugby Tournament.

Arriving on the Friday afternoon we found ourselves sharing a boarding house with the, ‘Beasts,’ a team from Western Australia. Within no time at all a ‘friendly’ had been arranged and the boys trotted out replacing the planned warmup with a full contact game against a very physical team.

After enjoying a lovely meal that evening at the local services club, the boys very much enjoyed the camaraderie that a dormitory situation promotes.

On the Saturday they played 4 matches, winning 1, drawing 2 and losing 1. This was the first time that Cranbrook had played in division 2 and the physicality and skill level was just what was required to challenge the team. As a mark of the effort put in by the boys that evening they requested the lights in the dormitory go out at 7:45pm!

On Sunday Cranbrook played ‘Toowoomba South Rugby,’ and the boys were victorious, playing some delightful rugby and maximising the width of the pitch to great effect. A wonderful weekend was had by all!
