A Message from the Headmaster - Queen's Birthday Honours List

I should like to take this opportunity to congratulate the members of the Cranbrook community who were among those who received awards in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours. To have received this prestigious accolade is an immense achievement and we are proud and delighted for them all.
Mr Ralph John Lancaster Evans (OC 1964) was awarded Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to international trade and investment, to business and venture capital endeavours, and to the community. Congratulations to Peter Conrad (OC 1953) who was awarded Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to vascular medicine, and to professional organisations. Dr Conrad has two grandsons, one a Cranbrook Old Boy and the other a current Year 10 Cranbrook student.
I would also like to congratulate past Cranbrook parent Cyril Baldock who was awarded Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to surf lifesaving, and current parent The Honourable Graham Frederick Richardson who was awarded Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to the people and Parliament of Australia, to the media as a political commentator, and through philanthropic support for a range of community organisations and Mr Simon David Mordant AM who was awarded Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to the visual arts at the national and international level, to emerging artists, and to philanthropy.
My sincere congratulations must also go to current parent Ms Gretel Lees Packer who was awarded Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the community, to the visual and performing arts, and to conservation and to past parent and current grandparent Mr Michel-Henri Ernest Carriol who was awarded Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to Australia-France relations, to business, and to the community. And finally, congratulations to Belinda Hutchinson AM who was awarded Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for her eminent service to business, to tertiary education and scientific research, and through philanthropic endeavours to address social disadvantage, and past parent Ms Diane Lesley Kershaw who was awarded Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to the visual arts.
In total 933 awards were announced in the Queen’s Birthday 2020 Honours List by the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd).
These wonderful individual achievements are celebrated by all of us within our School community. We are a joyous and caring community and we embrace these achievements through inclusivity and a love and respect for all others. The recipients of this year’s Honours List are an inspiration to us all.
