The Senior School library is named after an old boy John Leslie Stephen Mansfield, who was an architect and benefactor of the School. He designed the War Memorial Hall and other School projects.
The Mansfield Library was established to support the curriculum of Cranbrook School. It exists to help implement, enrich and support the educational program. The library's mission is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.
It is a goal of the library staff to provide an atmosphere conducive to learning, which is comfortable, pleasing and relaxing. The librarians work with other teachers to design learning strategies to meet the needs of all students. The library is a very attractive area in which to study and research, and houses computer rooms, study areas and areas for reading.
Location
The library is situated on level 5 of the main School building and houses the Bain Reading Room, which is named after another School benefactor, James Bain, whose son attended Cranbrook. The Audio Visual Department is also located in the library.
