Head Prefect 2009 – Mark Khunnithi

Head Prefect 2009Coming into Year 7 from a school of 140 students to Cranbrook which had over 800 students was an experience made easy by the interactive nature of the daily routine for a Cranbrook student. For me, Cranbrook provides everything one can expect from a true educational institution. However, it is more than just facts and figures that students learn and, as I have repeated to many students both attending and prospective, going to Cranbrook is about gaining experiences not just an education.

These experiences are not necessarily found in the classroom but forged on:

  • sporting fields and courts on a Saturday afternoon
  • a set of a play before 300 people
  • a Friday night debating the pros and cons of wars, laws and more
  • a stage playing in a range of bands
  • a rafting trip down the Snowy River as part of Cranbrook in the Field

These of course compliment some of the most inspired and energetic teaching I have seen. Ever since watching a hydrogen balloon burst in a fiery spectacle on Hordern Oval and seeing a replica Roman sword in Year 8 Latin, I have maintained that an education at Cranbrook is unrivalled in its innovation.
