Year 12

Year 12 student in drama

In Year 12, where only the study of English is mandatory, students continue to study the subjects selected in Year 11. In addition, the School offers a selection of extension courses.

Students must study 12 units for both the Preliminary (Year11) and the Higher School Certificate courses at Cranbrook School:

Extension 1 course - 3rd unit4 additional periods per cycle added to the core 8 periods
Extension 2 course - 4th unit4 additional periods per cycle added to the core 8 periods and the extension 4 periods

Students continue to study an English course from one of the following:

  • English Standard
  • English Advanced
  • English as a Second Language.

Students who chose Advanced English and the English Extension 1 course in Year 11 may choose to study the additional English Extension 2 course for the Higher School Certificate year.

Similarly in Mathematics, students who chose Mathematics and the additional Mathematics Extension 1 course in Year 11 may choose to study the additional Mathematics Extension 2 course for the Higher School Certificate year.

Extension courses are also offered in:

  • History
  • Music
  • Languages.
