Year 12
In Year 12, where only the study of English is mandatory, students continue to study the subjects selected in Year 11. In addition, the School offers a selection of extension courses.
Students must study 12 units for both the Preliminary (Year11) and the Higher School Certificate courses at Cranbrook School:

| Extension 1 course - 3rd unit | 4 additional periods per cycle added to the core 8 periods |
| Extension 2 course - 4th unit | 4 additional periods per cycle added to the core 8 periods and the extension 4 periods |
Students continue to study an English course from one of the following:
- English Standard
- English Advanced
- English as a Second Language.
Students who chose Advanced English and the English Extension 1 course in Year 11 may choose to study the additional English Extension 2 course for the Higher School Certificate year.
Similarly in Mathematics, students who chose Mathematics and the additional Mathematics Extension 1 course in Year 11 may choose to study the additional Mathematics Extension 2 course for the Higher School Certificate year.
Extension courses are also offered in:
- History
- Music
- Languages.
