St Mark's Preschool began operating in 1944 in the church hall lease from the St Mark's Anglican Church, Greenoaks Avenue, Darling Point. The preschool is licensed by the Department of Community Services and delivers quality preschool programs to 40 children from the local community.
Tinna Loker, the Preschool Director, and the trained and committed teaching staff provide a lively program to stimulate the boys and girls who attend during school term time. The adjacent playground enables the children to develop their gross motor skills in a peaceful, garden setting.
Aims and goals
St Mark's Pre-school aims to:
- ensure that the children have fun through play and social interaction
- foster the individual growth of each child intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally
- provide open and honest communication through informal and formal meetings between families and staff. Communication is considered to be a vital aid in achieving common goals for pre-school life
- provide a warm, safe, homelike, secure environment in which children feel confident enough to take on challenges
- create the desire to learn by providing a wide range of experiences in a stimulating environment.
