At just 15, Ethan Tan is the second youngest Australian to win a gold medal at the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad ever. It was also Ethan's first attempt and that hasn't happened in Australia for over 21 years.
In its 38 years history of participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad, Australia has won 20 gold medals. The Australian team came 11th in the world in this year's Olympiad.
Commenting on Ethan's success, his father, Wei Tan said: "We would like to especially thank the School for all the support and encouragement it has given during Ethan's Olympiad journey. Ethan is so glad that he could make the School proud in Cranbrook's Centenary year."
Ethan graduates this year and we are excited to follow Ethan's future successes.
