The Junior School caters for students from Years 3-6. It is located in the Furber Building at the main School site in Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill.
It is the aim of the Junior School, K-Year 6, to provide an educational environment that will provide optimum learning opportunities for each student and to promote self-confidence and an ongoing enthusiasm for learning in its students. Each student is encouraged to strive towards achieving his potential in many fields of endeavour. The vision for, and the direction of, Years 3 to 6 is the responsibility of the the Head of Junior School. The curriculum broadly follows that laid down for primary schools by the New South Wales Board of Studies.

Student Welfare
The welfare of each student is primarily the responsibility of his class teacher who supervises both academic and general progress. The class teacher is supported by the Deputy and Head of Junior School, as the circumstances dictate.
Anti-bullying Guidelines
The issue of bullying is taken very seriously at the school. A new Junior School Anti-bullying Guidelines was introduced in June 2007. Please click here for details.
This Anti-bullying Policy was launched at a parent evening in June 2007. Click here to view the presentation.
Junior School Organisation
The Junior School is organised into twelve classes, each with its own full-time class teacher. Specialist teachers teach French, Music, Art, Physical Education and Sport. There is a Mathematics specialist, a teacher librarian, an ICT facilitator, a literacy support teacher and a gifted education coordinator. The Junior School Counsellor is available to work with students, should the need arise.
Except for the Years 5 and 6 advanced classes, all classes are of mixed ability and grouping occurs within the class to facilitate the best learning outcomes for the students dependant on the nature of the task. There is a full academic program and numerous co-curricular activities are available to the students. Excellent ovals, a modern gymnasium and an indoor-heated swimming pool are at the disposal of both schools.
Junior School students attend Chapel Services each fortnight in the School Chapel. Services are taken by the School Chaplain and members of staff.
It is the aim of the Junior School to provide the kind of environment which will provide optimum learning opportunities for each student. Within this framework the teaching staff:
- helps each boy to develop intellectually to the best of his ability
- ensures that the basic areas are as well taught as possible while providing extension for the more able
- endeavours to promote self-confidence and an ongoing enthusiasm for learning.
- strives to develop in each student a consideration for others, and a sense of independence and responsibility.
The Junior School office is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Messages may be left via voice mail when the Office is unattended.
