It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Cranbrook School website. I hope you find it informative and that it provides you with a comprehensive understanding of our school, our values and the diversity and breadth of opportunity which we offer.
Cranbrook was founded in order to uphold the great tradition of liberal education and continues to do so by instilling, and supporting the development of, academic rigour. True education is a guided exploration beyond the comfort of self-limitation. We encourage our students to be creative, and actively involved in all that they undertake. Our mission is to ensure they are equipped and eager to become dynamic citizens whose pursuit of excellence will bring benefit to wider society.
We have a co-curricular programme which is broad and distinctive, holistic and well-rounded. We believe in the qualities of school sports but also in the enduring value of the arts and of service to those who are less privileged than we are.
Great teachers change lives, enrich possibilities, point to new horizons and enable young people to navigate by the stars. We continue to attract innovative academics who want to work in an environment that epitomises integrity, solidarity, responsibility, diversity, compassion and respect.
Above all we believe in people and their capacity to make this world a better place and in drive to make the most of their gifts. In every sense the school is true to its motto Esse Quam Videri, ‘to be rather than to seem to be’, and this resonates through all that we do.
We hold a series of Open Days throughout the year and I do encourage you to make an appointment to see what our School has to offer, and how we can provide your children with the necessary skills and confidence to help them embrace the challenges of the future.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our School.
