- What are the intake years at Cranbrook?
- Intake years are those years when a new class or classes are formed and they occur at Pre-school, Kindergarten, Year 3 and Year 7 schooling years. Offers of places for Pre-school and Kindergarten are made in the year before enrolment, and for Year 3 and Year 7 up to two years and six months before enrolment.
- How early do I need to enrol my son at Cranbrook?
- As applications are processed in date order, we urge you to complete and return an application form as soon as possible. Casual vacancies can arise from time to time. You are encouraged to enquire at the Admissions Office about the year of entry you seek.
- Can my son be on a waiting list to enter Cranbrook in a non-intake year?
- Yes, your son can be placed on a waiting list in a non-intake year. Places do become available from time to time in non-intake years.

-
St Michael's and St Mark's Pre-schools accept both boys and girls when they are three years old by 31 March in the year of entry.
- How old does my son have to be to attend Kindergarten?
- Entry into Kindergarten is available to boys who will be five years old by 31 March in the year of entry.
- Is there an application fee ?
- Yes, the Application for Admission must be accompanied by a cheque for $300 which is a non-refundable Registration Fee.
- Does Cranbrook offer boarding places?
- Yes, boarding places are offered at Cranbrook from Year 7 onwards. Boarding provides Cranbrook boys with a strong, supportive home in an educational environment. There are two Boarding Houses, Rawson and Street, which together care for 90 to 100 boys. Each House is led by a Housemaster, and he is supported by his wife and resident Tutors.

- Is my son tested before being offered a place at Cranbrook?
- Cranbrook is a non-selective boys' school. The Director of Early Learning (K to Year 2 entry), the Head of Junior School (Years 3 to 6 entry) and the Director of Admissions (Years 7 to 12 entry) conduct interviews prior to offering places. An Assessment and Orientation Day is held for boys definitely entering Senior School and formal testing is involved. However, the results of these assessments are used for class allocation only and not in the determination of suitability for entry to the School.
- How many students are in each class at Cranbrook?
- Junior School
Each class of approximately 25 boys has a class teacher. However, the ratio of teacher to student is considerably higher. In addition to the class teacher there are two Kindergarten Assistants and Teachers’ Aides who work in Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms. Our Learning Support teachers and three Learning Support Aides work in various classrooms across the Junior School to allow a fuller differentiation of the program to occur. Our Gifted and Talented teacher works with small groups of boys from various classrooms each week and the Teacher Librarian and Information Technology Teacher team-teach with class teachers, again increasing the teacher/student ratio.
Senior School (Years 7 to 12)
Senior School students total approximately 850. Most class sizes range from 18 to 24 students. However, there are many smaller classes, depending on subject selection. - What scholarships are available at Cranbrook?
- A wide range of scholarships and bursaries is available for students entering Years 7 to 11 for both day students and boarders. Applicants for most scholarships are required to sit the ACER Cooperative Scholarship Testing Program. All scholarships involve the partial or complete remission of tuition fees for Years 7 to 12.
