Contacting the School

All phone calls and messages should be directed to the School Secretary on 9371 6422. She is in attendance in Reception from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. A Change of Routine book for parental use is located outside each classroom and is operated on a daily basis.

If a student's going home arrangements are changed his teacher should be informed in writing. A note to the class teacher is also acceptable. In the case of an emergency, the School Secretary should be contacted before 2.30 pm so that the student and the teacher on duty can be informed.

Safety

Kindergarten students are collected by parents or carers from their classroom, initially at 2:30 pm, and then at 2:45pm.

Students in Year 1 are dismissed at 2.45 pm and can be collected from Kent Road. Students in Year 2 are dismissed at 3.00 pm and can be collected from Kent Road.

Each student must shake hands with the teacher on duty and tip his cap before being taken by the person collecting him and he will not be permitted to leave if the car is double parked or parked illegally.

To relieve traffic congestion in Kent Road, parents are asked to park elsewhere whenever possible. Parents may park in the Rose Bay Bowling Club car park and come to collect their son from outside the classroom or the carline.

Parents are asked to take care to park well clear of driveways, bus stops and pedestrian crossings, and to be considerate of the School's neighbours. The area in front of the school is a parking restricted area from 8.00 am to 9.00 am and from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm. This area is used by parents to drop students off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. Parents must not park and leave their vehicle there during these times.

Fruit break and lunch

Please provide your son with fruit for morning break. Large pieces of fruit should be cut into pieces to make them easier to eat.

Lunch may be ordered at School each morning between 8.30 am and 8.45 am. A list of fillings for sandwiches/rolls is on display outside the staffroom and a copy is provided to each family at the beginning of term. Names and orders are to be written on the bags provided and the correct money placed inside. Orders are prepared by mothers in the Senior School Tuckshop and are delivered to Dickins House.

Lunch brought from home should mainly consist of a sandwich cut into a manageable size, fruit and a drink. Please label all lunch boxes and drink bottles. Please do not send in chocolate or sweets.

Nut-Free Policy: Dickins House has adopted a Nut-free Policy to protect children with allergies to nut and trace nut products. A list of foods, which are trace nut free, is available from the School Secretary and parents will be kept up to date as new products are added to this list via the Dickins House Newsletter.
