The Cranbrook School Pastoral Care Program is based on the recommendations and advice contained in recent enquiries and research in education, psychology and adolescent well-being, and recognises the role of educational institutions in contributing to the development of social capital. This research highlights the importance of connectedness, resilience and strong character development as significant protective factors for young people. The program recognises that the promotion of student well-being, and a safe and secure learning environment that challenges, encourages and supports all students is fundamental to the achievement of the School's aims. It promotes a whole-School approach and supports other initiatives to create a School environment in which students feel safe, valued, engaged and purposeful.

Through the program students will complete a personal learning journey on which they will develop and integrate values, beliefs and habits for effective leadership of themselves and others. Through this focus it is envisaged that students will become resilient, assertive, independent and caring young men with the courage to make choices that improve their well-being and the well-being of others.

While the well-being of students is a whole-School responsibility, the following key personnel have specific responsibilities:

  • Headmaster
  • Head of Senior School
  • School Counsellor
  • Chaplain
  • Assistant Chaplain
  • Director of Pastoral Programs
  • Housemasters
  • Tutors.
