The Old Cranbrookians’ Association (OCA) was founded in October 1921. The objectives of the Association are to:

  • promote the general welfare of the School
  • establish scholarships
  • give prizes
  • give donations for any purpose connected with the School
  • promote unity and fellowship among Old Boys
  • foster close relations between Old Boys and students currently at the School.

The Association seeks to achieve close relations between Old Boys and students by providing its members with opportunities to return to the School. The Association organises reunions, country dinners, competitions and games in all the major sports against School teams so that Old Boys keep in touch with the School.

Students who attend Cranbrook School are eligible to become members of the Old Cranbrookians' Association. During Year 12 the President and the Headmaster write to parents inviting them to consider membership of the Old Cranbrookians' Association for their son. Subscription for membership is included as a separate item in the School account. The letter from the Headmaster explains the process and asks parents if they wish to take up the offer. The Alumni Office is responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with all ex-students of the School. It is located just inside the Victoria Road gates and is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm on week days.

The Old Cranbrookian Magazine

Members of the Association receive a copy of the Old Cranbrookian Magazine three times a year. The magazine is also sent to other schools and interested people.

The magazine records all Old Boys' events, both sporting and social, with reunions being a popular section. A recent survey of the readership voted news of classmates as the most read section and we attempt to cover members from 1918 to 2006!

The magazine takes limited advertising. The readership is about 10,000 and interested parties can contact the Director of Alumni or the Alumni Office Manager.

OC of the Year

From time to time the Headmaster and School Council appoint an Old Cranbrookian of the Year and recent appointments have been Professor Earl Owen, Professor James May, actor John Gaden, Judge Ken Handley, movie director Simon Wincer and e-commerce leader Craig Carroll.
