Location

The Health Centre is located in Stacey House on the main drive of the School and is the second building on the right after entering through the main gates in Victoria Road.

Function

The purpose of the School Health Centre is to provide a professional health service to the School community which aims to enhance the mission statement of the School by removing or minimalising health-related barriers to learning, individual development and personal well-being.

Staff

Three registered nurses are in the School's employ and one of them is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the term. There are a treatment room, an isolation ward and a ward with five beds in the centre.

The School sisters are extensively trained in child and adolescent health. They are available to provide:

  • primary health care to students
  • emergency care to the School community, including First Aid treatment
  • promotion of public health within the School environment
  • promotion and assistance in health education activities
  • referrals to allied medical and health professionals
  • pastoral care as members of the Pastoral Care Team consisting of School Counsellors, Housemasters and Tutors, and Senior Boarding Master.

Special needs

Parents of students with special health needs are encouraged to contact the staff to discuss any concerns. A plan of action may be implemented following consultation between parents, health professionals, teaching staff and the student.

Medical Consent and Procedure Form

Medical records are maintained for each student during his years at the School to facilitate his treatment should the need arise. The Medical Consent and Procedure Form is distributed to all new students and those students advancing from Year 6 to Year 7. Parents and guardians should complete the form and return it to the Health Centre when your son enters the School. The information is available for referencing by appropriate staff. The original copies of the Medical Consent and Procedure Form are kept by the secretary of the Junior School and by the nursing staff for students in the Senior School.
